The Pacenti family moved to the town of Montalcino at the beginning of the last century managing land according to the sharecropping system, thus moving from one farm to another. In the 1960's Rosildo Pacenti and his wife Quinta decided to purchase the farm Canalicchio; this was how the first bottle of Brunello di Montalcino Canalicchio vintage 1968, marketed in 1973 came into existence. Franco, who was born in 1958, worked on the land alongside his father as a teenager thus contributing to the development of the farm from the outset. It began as a multiproduct farm typical of the time and over the years specialized in wine making. Now the excellent quality of the product is famous all over the world. Azienda Agricola Pacenti Franco, got the current name and the trademark Canalicchio in 1988, when Franco, took over management along with his wife Carla. Their children Lisa, Serena and Lorenzo - the third generation of the Pacenti family - have now become part of it with the same passion, dedication to work and love of the land which will guarantee the future of this wine cellar for years to come. Today, estate covers approximately 36 hectares, 10 of which dedicated to vineyards and 1 to olive groves.
The old wine cellar under the historical farmhouse is used for tasting and part is used for ageing. The new wine cellar, built in 2004, is designed in a skillful and perfectly efficient manner, with separate areas for vinification, ageing in casks and maturing in the bottle.
