Rikars is the product of two college friends and business partners; Riccardo Gagliardi and Arsen Zadoyan. In 2017 they found a plot of old vine Areni in the Vayots Dzor, recognized the potential, and formed Rikars. Under the direction of Italian winemaker Federico Renzi, Rikars shows the potential of the Areni grape in two different wines. Davit is made in a modern format using temperature-controlled fermentation and aging in Armenian oak barrels. ARAG is made using traditional clay amphora to ferment and age the wine.
