In 1970 Bob Zielinski and his wife, Pam, started their family business on a piece of land in the Willamette Valley that would grow into Scenic Valley Farms. Today Scenic Valley grows over a thousand acres of pears, wheat, hazelnuts, hops, grass seed, and wine grapes. Bob built a business that is self-sustainable, with an abundance of resources and skill sets. If something is broken, they fix it instead of replacing it. That farm mentality flows into the winery and gives them the ability to over deliver on price and quality in every bottle. Today, at Scenic Valley Farms, winemaker Gabriel Jagle uses those lessons to make creative wines that have terroir and zeitgeist, while also remembering the most important thing is to make wines that are delicious. Gabriel Jagle studied at the Chemeketa Viticulture Center, where he learned to make wines that are clean and precise. He was trained at Illahe Vineyards and Winery, where he learned to make wines that were soulful and expressive. Among many green farming certifications, Scenic Valley Farms is Certified organic, Salmon Safe, Live Certified, belongs to Deep Roots Coalition and all electricity on the farms comes from solar panels. As Members of the Deep Roots Coalition they join PNW Viticulturists who are committed to conserving water resources through dry-farming of their vines.
