Tranche Cellars is owned and operated by Michael and Lauri Corliss. Made by the crew at Corliss Estates, Tranche Cellars consistently delivers serious, impeccably made wines that over-deliver. Located in Walla Walla, they produce three separate series of wines: one focused on Rhone varieties, one on Mediterranean and one on their estate vineyards. Focusing on their estate Blue Mountain Vineyard, they produce limited quantities of single varietal bottlings. Tranche, which loosely translates from the French as "a piece" or "a slice," is the name given to the sister winery of Walla Walla's Corliss Estates. When first released a few years ago, the Tranche wines, made at Corliss, were introduced as a showcase for Rhône-style reds and whites. Since then, Tranche has evolved into a fully realized winery with its own production facility and vineyards set in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. Leonetti Cellar is the closest neighbor.
The winery points out that its winemaking philosophy is distinctly different from Corliss, more a pure expression of varietal character. Almost all wines are made in neutral oak, including large uprights called foudres.
